Consultation

Start Line Behavioral Health offers consultation services to individuals and families looking for next steps and new directions in treatment, education, care, and planning. For children and parents/guardians, consultation can take many forms including discussing ideal classroom and educational structure for your child, connecting you with helpful community resources, treatment planning, and helping you plan for your child’s future.

For adults, consultation may also include discussing strategies for managing home, work and social life balance, diagnostic clarifications, and identifying appropriate treatment options.

Neuropsychological and Psychoeducational Assessments

Dr. Furtado specializes in assessing children and adults when there are questions about a possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (previously known as Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD or ADD), thinking, problem solving or learning challenges, or behavioral difficulties. Evaluation can take different forms depending on the questions being asked, so it is important to discuss your goals for assessment prior to beginning. Dr. Furtado will guide you through this process, and is happy to answer questions along the way.

Do you have questions about your own or your child’s behavior or functioning? Are you or your child struggling at school, home or work? Are you wondering whether psychological assessment is the appropriate next step? Email office@startlinebehavioralhealth.com to schedule a complimentary 15-minute telephone consultation with Dr. Furtado.

Diagnostic Evaluations

Start Line Behavioral Health offers 1-2 session mental health diagnostic screenings and evaluations to help individuals better understand the nature of the problems or issues they are experiencing, identify personality characteristics, determine a diagnosis if indicated, and develop specific treatment recommendations appropriate for the problem or diagnosis.

  • This process can be helpful for clients who are just starting out in their pursuit of therapy and want a more specific focus and direction.

  • It can also be helpful for those already engaged in therapy who are looking to assess progress and change and possibly review or revise their current treatment goals.

  • These consultations are typically 1-2 sessions and can include a detailed interview, administration of variety of assessments and diagnostic tools, and a session to review the results and discuss recommendations.
